So this Friday I took an off-day from work and went on a date with my dearest daughter/AGL/crazy girl. She's the only girl I know so far who can challenge me in terms of screaming.
Some selfies as usual.
Met her at Bugis Plus and this guy happened to be handing out flyers. I'm a sucker for advertisements and always fall into their traps. I should know better, being a Comms student, but... Anyway we ended up at Rocku! Serving Japanese Charcoal Grill, it's hidden away in a corner on the 4th floor of Bugis Plus, and we ordered the Yakiniku Lunch Set Meals.
My date for the day, chiobu Jo.
Our sets arrived pretty fast amidst our chatting and gossiping :P
Jolene's Saba Fish set, and my Pork Loin set. Each set comes with salad, rice, main, miso soup and egg fried rice.
Andddd we begin the BBQ-ing!
Serious me at work hahaha.
The pork loin was a little bit tough, but maybe I had over cooked it. Aiya, I'm not good at cooking. I'm better at eating LOL. Jo's saba fish was good though. And the rice.. it was heavenly. I'm trying to keep a low/no carb diet but I could not help but finish ALL the rice. It's that good. Yumssss
Best thing about this place is, the bill only came up to around $20 for 2 pax!! Worth it or what? Definitely worth a visit again during lunch hours. Apparently they also have dinner buffet, but I didn't check out the prices.
Pretty decor of the restaurant. Love the graffiti cat meow.

Afterwards, it was some intense shopping session, which of course I do not have any pictures because we were busy shopping away.
Bugis street is really a haven for cheap affordable clothes and accessories! Of course, if you shop at Bugis Street, don't expect the quality of clothes to be fantastic. It may be a bit sheer, or may fray easily, or may fur upon a few washes. But hey one can't expect much from a piece of clothing that costs only $10 right?
Though I admit I do have some pieces from Bugis Street which are surprisingly long-lasting, and people are always shocked when I tell them where I bought them or how much I bought them for hahaha. To quote Jo: 省省省,ah fang 最棒!
One thing I hate about Bugis Street is the crowd. Go there on a weekend and prepared to be swarmed by people. And most of them are tourists/foreigners... Have I mentioned how much I hate to be squeezed against people? Especially... people who do not care much about hygiene. Sigh.
This brings me to an incident which happened yesterday. I was on the train back home after work, and yes I expect crowd and squeezing during the peak hour, it is inevitable. But.. there was this smell, permeating the air.. A sour smell of dried sweat.. I mean.. Yes, everyone has had a hard day at work, but if you know you are bound to such.. smells, you can clean yourself up right?!? I wish people would be more considerate about these. Imagine if you had a bad day at school/work and you smell this on your way home. You would just want to murder someone -.- ok end rant.
I love Bugis Street food too! Just past the sex shop (hahaha always use that as a point of reference when you get lost. "Eh I am near the sex shop!" "Meet at the sex shop ah!"), there are lots of yummy food and cheap cheap fruit juices!! Only $1! And this is my MUST-HAVE whenever I go to Bugis Street..
算盘子!!! Aka Abacus Seed (?) Not sure how it is made, probably yam and glutinous rice or something, but it is HOLY. I can eat this forever. And that is why I am fat forever lol.
This girl ah, so old already never try before! Nah jie jie buy let you try la!
Anddddd presenting my best buy of the day...
TADAH!! My colourful umbrella which I bought from a pushcart at Bugis+! It's quite pricey, at $17.90. but my current umbrella is ugly and spoiling, so I just got myself a chio one hahaha. Hope this will make my rainy days a wee bit better!
Cheers to the long weekend everyone! (I keep thinking today is Saturday)
